A bit about me!

We adopted Stanley in March 2003 when he was 18 months old.

I'd been after getting a greyhound for many years, but the continual dispute was always that our house was too small (it's certainly smaller now!!) and that I was being daft.

Then Rob sat and watched 102 Dalmatians with Terri, our daughter, who was then almost 3 years old - (what an excellent choice of film!!) naturally she wanted a dog - was I delighted or what!!  Moderate dispute continued, over the type of dog, however I stuck fast and as far as I was concerned there was only ONE sort of dog for me!

I did lots of research as I didn't want to end up being responsible for making a mistake, and within days, I'd discovered a greyhound rescue centre close by.

I rang up  and spoke to Steve explaining that we had a small house, small child and was there such a thing as a small greyhound!   He implied there was...............

Stanley had only been with them for a few weeks - he'd been abandoned by his owners on the M25, along with another dog, and together they had been sighted running free and scavenging for a fortnight.  The other dog  eventually turned on Stanley, ripping his chest open.  He was in a very poor state when he was finally caught - the other dog was destroyed for displaying aggressive tendencies and because of the nature of his injuries the vet (who specialises in Greyhounds) thought it best for Stanley to be put down.

Fortunately Steve and Sandra, the owners of Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue Centre, persuaded him to let them try to save him - which thankfully they did, with the help of lots of rice pudding!

He is NOT a small greyhound.............. in fact, on the day we went to have a look round, with the exception of one other dog, who was the size of a small pony, he was one of the largest there!

He's great with all children, and would, without hesitation attempt to climb a tree to get a squirrel... plenty of opportunity as we live opposite the park.. walks are always interesting!
